As politics become ever more polarizing, they dip further and further into everyday life — even love lives . With so many dating apps to choose from, users search for their perfect match by looking for shared interests, such as shared hobbies, favorite bands or movies, and more recently, even favorite politicians.

A recent survey found 44% of all single voters under the age of 36 are on dating apps, but 38% of them said they might not vote in the 2024 election. Meanwhile, a separate survey found nearly half of daters are open to discussing politics on their first few dates, and more than half said they’d be willing to go on a date to the polls, with 84% saying voting is a big turn on for them.

With the 2024 election looming in less than three weeks, some dating apps are putting politics front and center.

Tinder has launched what it calls its “ take action center ,” which lets users add profile stickers showing whether they plan to vote and the issues important to them.

OKCupid has something similar – allowing users to take a stance on hot topics like abortion with an “I’m pro-choice” badge . Users who want to show their support of abortion access can add this to their profile.

Meanwhile, conservative dating app The Right Stuff features political prompts such as “favorite liberal lie,” and “January 6 was…” which allows users to fill in the blank.

This comes as another recent poll found people’s political beliefs are likely to impact their dates .

In a survey of more than 1,000 people between 18 and 34 years old, 43% of them said they’d have a more negative view of their date if they supported former President Donald Trump, while only 19% said the same about supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris.

More than a quarter of those surveyed said they would have a more negative view of a date who didn’t vote at all.
