Justin Timberlake will agree to a plea deal in his DWI case to avoid drunk driving charges, according to multiple reports. While he was facing a serious criminal charge, that appears to no longer be the case, according to details of the deal obtained by The Associated Press. He could walk away with simply a suspended license and a fine of a few hundred dollars.

Back in June, Timberlake was pulled over for running a stop sign in Long Island. Months later, his lawyer seems to have secured a major plea agreement that will see him get off with a traffic violation and a fine somewhere between $300 and $500, according to TMZ.

Instead of a DWI on his record, TMZ is reporting that Timberlake will agree to a lesser charge of driving while ability impaired, which is not a drunk driving offense.

His lawyer contends that Timberlake wasn’t drunk at the time. However, police said in a court filing that all the signs were there.

“His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests,” police said the filing.

Timberlake will still have his driver’s license suspended in New York due to his refusal to take a breathalyzer test, which triggers an automatic one-year suspension.

Timberlake will appear in court on Friday, Sept. 13, to enter the plea.
