    Fundraiser started for family of late Stratford police officer

    STRATFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The Shelton Police Department has organized a way to raise money for the family of a fallen Stratford police officer.

    56-year-old Officer Kenneth Kubel died on June 19 following a sudden cardiac event, according to the Stratford Police Department.

    Family remembers Stratford police officer

    Kubel served with the Bridgeport Police Department from 1990 to 2015 and retired as a sergeant. He served another nine years as a patrol officer with the Stratford Police Department from 2015 to 2024.

    His four children and colleagues spoke highly of his family-first attitude whom many looked up to.

    The police department is selling commemorate shirts with his name and uniform number on them.

    The shirts can be purchased through July 15 on Venmo , to “OFC. Kubel Fundraiser” @KennyK225. The Venmo subject box should include your name, size, quantity of order and phone number.

    All the proceeds will go the Kubel family, organizers said.
