Big box store shopping in New Jersey just got smaller
In an ever ugly and sad trend another big box store announced that they are closing a chunk of their stores and trying to reorganize to stay above drowning in debt. National discount retailer Big Lots, with close to 1,400 stores nationally including twenty-seven in Monmouth and Ocean counties here in New Jersey, has announced that they are closing up to forty stores nationally and opening three more. Big Lots closed fifty-two stores in 2023 due to inferior performance.

Lucy the Elephant Celebrates 143rd Birthday
The Jersey Shore's beloved six-story, 90-ton historical landmark, Lucy the Elephant, is set to celebrate her 143rd birthday this Saturday (July 20) with a day full of festivities. The event, organized by the Save Lucy Committee, will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and include water slides, mini-golf, Skee-Ball, an obstacle course, and more. Get ready for a new spot coming to Egg Harbor City at the historic Roesch Hotel building on St. Louis Avenue. A new pub, The Inn on St. Louis Kitchen & Craft, will bring a brand new neighborhood tavern to EHC and will be located at 446 St. Louis Ave. While they did not announce an opening date, they did say they hope to be ready to open by the end of the summer.
