Vermont Field Hockey Names Senior Captains for 2024 Season
The Vermont field hockey team has announced its leadership group for the upcoming 2024 season, with seniors Sophia Drees, Meg Weyer, and Reggie Hillery appointed as captains. Drees has been a standout midfielder, having played all 53 games with a career-high of six goals and six assists in 2023. Weyer, recognized for her versatility, scored a career-high nine points last season and has made appearances in every game throughout her tenure. Hillery contributed solidly in offense and defense last year, and was honored with the 2024 Jeff Stone Memorial Award for community service.

Salisbury man sentenced to 78 months in jail
RUTLAND — A Salisbury man has been sentenced to spend six and a half years in jail after pleading guilty to possessing a stolen gun. Scott Clark, 41, was sentenced on Aug. 21 by U.S. District Judge Mae D’Agostino to 78 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Clark previously pleaded guilty to the charge on July 13, 2023.
