Brattleboro police are investigating a death. Saturday morning, just before 9, they were called for a report of a person in the water. A male was found dead in the Whetstone Brook, where it passes under Main St. The road was closed to traffic for several hours as Brattleboro Fire Department assisted in recovering the body. Police say the death is not considered suspicious at this time, but they are still investigating. They are holding off on releasing his identity until the family can be notified.

(AP) — The U.S. Department of Labor has approved federal disaster unemployment assistance for Vermonters who lost work because of flooding from the remnants of Hurricane Beryl on July 9 through July 11, the state Labor Department said Monday. Woman arrested for nearly hitting officers with car, police say
Burlington, VT- A Winooski woman is facing charges for almost hitting officers with her car and then evading arrest, according to Burlington Police Department. Police say Tiffany Billings, 32, was parked on Main St near South Winooski Avenue while police reported an incident there at about 1:45 am Sunday.
