28 Days Later Sequel to Recruit Marvel Director

Nia DaCosta is frontrunner to direct the upcoming sequel to 28 Days Later .

The director of The Marvels and Candyman is reportedly in talks to helm the second entry in Sony’s 28 Years Later trilogy, according to Deadline .

The first entry in that trilogy has already found its director: Danny Boyle. He helmed the 2002 original, and is returning alongside that film’s writer, Alex Garland, who has significantly raised his profile since through directing Civil War .

Developed by Sony Pictures, the 28 Years Later trilogy will reportedly form the third, fourth, and fifth entries in the long-running zombie series. With Garland penning the next two films, Boyle directs the first, and DaCosta directs the second.

But what about Cillian Murphy? The Oppenheimer Oscar-winner starred in 28 Days Later , and is in talks to serve as executive producer. If he is indeed linked to the project, there’s nothing stopping him appearing in it either.
