Crunchyroll Releases English Subtitled Trailer for Haikyu Movie

You wouldn’t think an anime series about volleyball would be hugely popular and incredibly good, but if you think that then you haven’t seen the fantastic Haikyu. After a few years off the air, Haikyu is finally coming back with a couple of movies, and Crunchyroll has just released an English subbed trailer for the first one.

Crunchyroll has released the first subtitled trailer for Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle to the public, after it previously showed up in the pre-show trailers for movies like Spy x Family Code: White. The trailer is about a minute and a half long, and goes over the premise of the anime and what the movie is about — spoiler alert: it’s about volleyball.

Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle has Shoyo Hinata, a volleyball player who wanted to be like his hero Little Giant, teaming up with his nemesis to compete in the Dumpster Battle, a match between two underdog teams. Here’s the official description from Crunchyroll:

Shoyo Hinata joins Karasuno High’s volleyball club to be like his idol, a former Karasuno player known as the “Little Giant.” But, Hinata soon finds that he must team up with his middle school nemesis, Tobio Kageyama. Their clashing styles turn into a surprising weapon, but can they beat their rival Nekoma High in the highly anticipated “Dumpster Battle,” the long-awaited ultimate showdown between two opposing underdog teams?

The film is being produced by animation studio Production IG, which previously produced the anime series and all of its subsequent follow-ups. Production IG is also very well known for series like Ghost in the Shell, Psycho-Pass, and the recently released (and very good) Kaiju No. 8.

Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle will be released in theaters in the US on May 31, 2024.
