More Pokémon Horizons Episodes Are Coming to Netflix Next Month

Last month, Pokémon Horizons: The Series released its first batch of episodes on Netflix in the US. 12 episodes were released on the streaming service, and so far seem to have been received fairly well, but fans were keen for more. Now, we know exactly when the next batch of episodes is set to be released.

Netflix and The Pokémon Company have announced that more episodes of Pokémon Horizons will be released on Netflix in the US on May 10, 2024 — a month from the time of writing, and approximately two months since the first batch was released. According to Netflix, “Part Two” of Pokémon Horizons will see the Rising Volt Tacklers heading towards the Galar region.

This gives us a pretty good idea of how many episodes we’re likely to get. The first story arc of Pokémon Horizons, subtitled Liko and Roy’s Departure in Japan, ran for 25 episodes all up, before transitioning into the Terapagos’ Shine arc. If we had to guess, we’d say the second batch of Pokémon Horizons on Netflix will be 13 episodes long, and bring us to the end of the first story arc.

Here’s how The Pokémon Company describes Part Two:

Liko, Roy, and the rest of the Rising Volt Tacklers are charting a course toward the Galar region, seeking the truth about the legendary Ancient Adventurer and his Pokémon known as the Six Heroes. Along the way, Roy and Fuecoco find a new Pokémon partner, but an attack by the Explorers leaves Liko and Sprigatito feeling lost. Later, Dot and Quaxly team up, Roy and his Pokémon take on special training, and Friede reveals how he met Captain Pikachu. And when the Brave Olivine finally lands in Galar, friends both old and new await—along with fiery challenges from a Gym Leader and a seriously angry Galarian Moltres!

The company also released a teaser for the new batch of episodes, and it features everyone’s favorite Paldean gym leader, Iono.

We reviewed Pokémon Horizons’ first story arc after it had finished airing in Japan last October, and found that it started fairly strong, but quickly lost its way. Unfortunately for fans in the US, the next batch of episodes set to be released on Netflix are where things start to go off the rails a bit. Don’t worry though, the second story arc is very strong and is a fantastic course correction for the series.

At the time of writing, Pokémon Horizons has just wrapped up its second story arc and is preparing to enter its third, which was revealed in a spoiler-filled poster last month. The third arc, Terastal Debut, starts with episode 46, and is likely to be dubbed the start of “season 2” when it’s finally released in the West after the BBC revealed season 1 of Horizons would be 45 episodes long .
