DC’s Creature Commandos to Premiere on Max This December

Warner Bros has confirmed that Creature Commandos will be released in December 2024. The animated show will kick off the new DC Universe, which will have interconnected projects across film, television, and gaming.

The news was confirmed at the Warner Bros. Animation panel at the Annecy Film Festival. Besides WB, Netflix also premiered the first footage from Zack Snyder's Twilight of the Gods and Ultraman: Rising.

While the show will be animated, several characters will appear in other live-action DCU projects as well. James Gunn confirmed that Rick Flag Sr. (played by Frank Grillo) will appear in Peacemaker season 2 , and some characters will also appear in his Superman movie. Unfortunately, there was no update on the rumored Jurassic League movie that Gunn is reportedly producing.

Creature Commandos follows a group of monsters led by Rick Flag Sr (Frank Grillo), including Eric Frankenstein (David Harbour), the Bride of Frankenstein (Indira Varma), Dr. Nina Mazursky (Zoë Chao), Doctor Phosphorus (Alan Tudyk), G.I Robot, Weasel (both played by Sean Gunn). Additionally, Anya Chalotra (Yennefer in The Witcher) will play Circe. Like the Suicide Squad, the Creature Commandos are assembled by Amanda Waller (played by Viola Davis).

As for other animated DC projects, it was confirmed that two animated Watchmen films will be released in 2024 and 2025. Those looking forward to a new DC show can stream Suicide Squad Isekai on Max starting June 27, 2024. With a release window announced it shouldn't be long before we get our first look at the Creature Commandos in action.

Creature Commandos will premiere at an unannounced date in December and will have seven episodes. Superman releases in theatres on July 11, 2025.
