The final episode of House of the Dragon season 2 features an iconic character from Game of Thrones .

In episode 8, The Queen Who Ever Was, Daemon is treated to a glimpse into the future courtesy of the mysterious Alys Rivers.

During his vision, he sees events that will soon come to pass. These events include the arrival of the White Walkers, encapsulated by the famous line from Game of Thrones , “winter is coming.”

Even more famous, however, is someone else we see in Daemon’s vision: Daenerys Targaryen. The Mother of Dragons is seen for a few seconds, sitting cross-legged and naked in the desert. She’s cradling her three baby dragons, just as she did in the last episode of Game of Thrones season 1.

We don’t see the face of Daenerys, however, so it’s unlikely the character’s actress Emilia Clarke reprised her role. Still, it’s a nostalgic nod to a classic moment in Game of Thrones history.

Given this event actually happens in the show’s timeline a few decades into the future, it suggests the rest of Daemon’s vision will also come true - including his look ahead at Rhaenyra sitting on the Iron Throne.

That’s why what happens next is a smart move, with Daemon inviting her to Rhaenyra to Harrenhal, the seat of House Strong, and pledging his undying loyalty in front of the entire army.
