American Sports Story: See New Preview of Josh Andrés Rivera as Aaron Hernandez

It was announced last year that Josh Andrés Rivera will star as Aaron Hernandez in American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez , a new series from executive producer Ryan Murphy at FX that aims to re-examine a prominent event that involves a sports figure.

This first season will follow the story of Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriots who was convicted of murder and ultimately committed suicide while incarcerated at just 27 years old.

The writer behind Elektra and The Americans , Stuart Zicherman, is responsible for developing the ten-episode series, and also serves as executive producer alongside Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Linda Pizzuti Henry, Nina Jacobson, Marshall Lewy, Hernan Lopez, Ira Napoliello, Brad Simpson, Alexis Martin Woodall, Scott Robertson, and Eric Kovtun.

FX has released an official thirty-second teaser before the series' September 17 release.

Opening with Tom Brady throwing a pass to Hernandez, the teaser consists of radio report coverage as Hernandez falls in slow-mo to the ground.

The drop is interspersed with blink-and-you'll-miss-it-fast scenes, culminating in Hernandez hitting his head as he meets the field.

Josh Andrés Rivera is joined by fellow cast members Jerry Levine, who plays Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Ross Jirgl as Tom Brady, Laith Wallschleger as Rob Gronkowski, Patrick Schwarzenegger as Tim Tebow, Tammy Blanchard as Terri Hernandez , and Lindsay Mendez as Tanya Singleton.
