    Boba Fett Will Not Return in The Mandalorian and Grogu, Says Temuera Morrison

    Sad news for Star Wars fans: Temuera Morrison will not be returning as Boba Fett in The Mandalorian & Grogu .

    Answering questions on a panel at Fan Expo Chicago, the actor said, “This show's reception does seem to have impacted the future of the character in the franchise,” as reported by Screen Rant .

    The actor first played the role of feared bounty hunter Boba Fett’s father Jango in 2002’s Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones .

    He got his own series in 2021 with Disney+’s The Book of Boba Fett , and most recently reprised his role in The Mandalorian season 3.

    According to Morrison, however, the poor reception of The Book of Boba Fett has damaged his character’s brand, with Disney shelving him for the time being. That’s not to say he won’t cameo in other Star Wars projects.

    For example, he appeared as Boba Fett in 2023 video game Jedi: Survivor , and also voiced Commander Rex in an episode of Ahsoka the same year. Boba aside, the actor is keeping busy, with an upcoming role in Moana 2 providing the voice of Chief Tui.

    Moana 2 launches 29 November 2024, while The Mandalorian & Grogu releases 22 May 2026
