The three-time Oscar winner behind movies such as Pan's Labyrinth , The Shape of Water and Pinocchio (2022) , Guillermo del Toro (GDT), is living out his own supernatural tale currently in Scotland, where he is in production on his next film, Frankenstein , starring Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Christoph Waltz and Mia Goth.

However, del Toro's chilling story isn't the one he's telling on screen, but the one he's living upon returning home from set as he's been updating his social media about "something angry and territorial" haunting his hotel room.

The story began on August 20, when GDT took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share he is "staying in an old 1800's hotel" and is "in the Most Haunted room" there.

He informed his social media that one of the film's producers was staying in there, but she has now vacated the room, and he has taken it instead.

Two days later, GDT returned to social media to report that not much had happened, "but the atmosphere in the room is oppressive, and [he is] not gonna spend much more time there."

He says he is now sleeping in another room to get his required hours of sleep due to being on the set of Frankenstein , but he says "something is in that room with [him]".

GDT took to X again last night to say he was "going into the room" and that it "has more than vibes there is something angry and territorial there. A shred of rage."

He then shared images from the room, including one of him trying an EVP on his phone to see if he could connect with the spirits.

A few hours ago, he shared a new photo, saying, "No sounds or sights happened- but just an oppressive vibe- Room #4 I shall return... Life is unstructured- no grand finale".

Guillermo del Toro's most recent update is what he calls "an epilogue" to the saga, saying "One of our cast had a similar sensation in the room and one of our crew saw someone outside the window... On the second floor."

GDT and his team are now on the final stretch of filming for Frankenstein , with the film's producer, J. Miles Dale, sharing a photo of them on location – free from ghosts.

Frankenstein is expected to be released in 2025, but an exact date is yet to be reported.
