The Acolyte is Cancelled, But Manny Jacinto Wants a Season 2

Disney may not be renewing The Acolyte for a second season, but there’s one person who’s not happy with the decision: Manny Jacinto.

The actor, who plays Force-sensitive Sith The Stranger in Disney+’s live-action Star Wars series, revealed his feelings at a recent Dragon Con panel. As captured by Twitter account Digital LA, when asked what his life goal is, Jacinto responded, “A goal of mine? To achieve? Season 2 of The Acolyte .”

His answer prompted cheers and applause from the audience. Despite the positive reception in the room, however, the show itself recorded mix reviews. It’s got a 78% critical score and just an 18% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Viewing figures weren’t up to Disney’s standards, either. While the company hasn’t released official numbers, reports suggest it massively underperformed.

BoundingIntoComics states the worst-performing episode of The Acolyte pulled in around 1.9 million viewers, which is dire compared to the worst-performing episode of the most recent D octor Who season, Dot and Bubble, which “caught the interest of at least 3.38 million viewers in the week of its premiere.” The outlet also says The Acolyte only managed “seventh place on Nielsen’s weekly streaming originals chart.”

For a prestige Star Wars show, that’s not good enough. Check out Jacinto’s response below. He joins another The Acolyte star who breaks their silence on the show’s cancellation .
