New “The Sims” Movie in the Works at Amazon MGM Studios

The Sims , a movie based on the popular video game, is full steam ahead at Amazon MGM Studios, where it has been confirmed that a feature adaptation is in development.

Kate Herron, whose previous directing credits include episodes of Loki and Sex Education , is attached to direct and will co-write the screenplay and executive produce alongside Briony Redman.

The details of what that script will entail are under wraps, but what we do know is that LuckyChap and Vertigo Entertainment will produce the film alongside the team behind The Sims at Electronic Arts.

Having sold close to 200 million copies worldwide, The Sims is one of the best-selling video game series of all time and allows users to create their virtual "Sims" who engage in activities such as interpersonal relationships, socializing, working, building and furnishing their homes, and more.

The Sims will be another partnership between LuckyChap and Amazon MGM Studios, who have collaborated on many films, including last year's hit Saltburn and, most recently, My Old Ass .

Further details on The Sims, such as casting and release dates, are yet to be revealed.
