Crunchyroll Is Releasing Three Highly Anticipated Anime Films in Theaters

Crunchyroll has announced that it will release three highly anticipated films in theaters, with some getting a worldwide release. The three films are Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom, and Blue Lock the Movie - Episode Nagi. The news was revealed during Crunchyroll's first CinemaCon presentation.

For Haikyu!! and Blue Lock, the streaming service is partnering with Sony Pictures to bring it to the United States and other countries. While both of these films have release dates, Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom remains undated.

Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle Release Date

Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle will release on the following dates across the world:

• May 30: Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Italy, Switzerland (Italian-speaking), Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil, Central America (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama), Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru
• May 31: Canada, Finland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States
• June 7: Turkey
• June 12: Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Switzerland (French-speaking)
• June 25: Austria, Germany
• June 27: Switzerland (German-speaking)

Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle is directed by Susumu Mitsunaka. It is the first film following Haikyū!! To The Top, the fourth season of the anime, and serves as the finale to the series. The film will be released in both the original Japanese and English (dubbed).

Shoyo Hinata joins Karasuno High’s volleyball club to be like his idol, a former Karasuno player known as the “Little Giant.” But, Hinata soon finds that he must team up with his middle school nemesis, Tobio Kageyama. Their clashing styles turn into a surprising weapon, but can they beat their rival Nekoma High in the highly anticipated “Dumpster Battle,” the long awaited ultimate showdown between two opposing underdog teams?

Blue Lock the Movie - Episode Nagi Release Date

Blue Lock the Movie will be released in American theaters on June 28. The film will also be released in other regions such as Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa later. Like Haikyu!!, Blue Lock will be released in both Japanese and English.

The film is directed by Shunsuke Ishikawa and is the first spinoff film from the franchise.

Until Mikage Reo, a classmate who dreamed of winning the World Cup, discovered Nagi’s hidden skill, inspiring him to play soccer and share his outstanding talent. One day, he receives an invitation to the mysterious BLUE LOCK Project. What awaits him there is an encounter with the finest strikers assembled from across the country. Nagi’s dream of becoming the best, alongside Reo, will take this prodigy to a world he’s never known.

Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom Release Date

Currently, Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom doesn't have a release date for North American theaters. The film picks up after the ending of the anime, which ran for four seasons. It is directed by Naoyuki Ito from an original story penned by franchise creator Kugane Maruyama.

Crunchyroll will bring the film to other countries as well, including Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

Heeding the call, Momonga, now known as the Sorcerer King Ains Ooal Gown, rallies the Sorcerer Kingdom and its undead army to join the fight alongside the Sacred Kingdom and the Slane Theocracy in hopes to defeat the Demon Emperor.
