Where does Nebraska rank for team travel in an expanded Big Ten?
The 2024 college football season will be the first season of the newly expanded Big Ten Conference. The league has added Oregon, UCLA, USC, and Washington to bring their total number of teams to 18. With the addition of four West Coast schools, the conference will see a dramatic increase in the number of miles teams will travel in 2024. Recent data shows that the four new teams will have the most ground to cover. UCLA will travel over 22,000 miles for the 2024 Big Ten football season, with an average round trip of 3,764 miles. The Bruins will also cross over 26 different time zones.Indiana will cover the least ground, traveling only 4,894 miles and eight different time zones. McCook Aquatic Park is now open
The McCook Aquatic Park held their grand opening Wednesday. The park is a great addition to the community that has gone without an outdoor pool for the last two summers. The aquatic center was a decade-long effort with the pool committee beginning the process in 2015. Many kids have been long awaiting the grand opening, including fifth graders, Anthony Clapp and Grady Pohl.

A top class of 2026 offensive lineman has cut his list of finalists, and Nebraska made the list. Jackson Cantwell is a five-star offensive tackle for Nixa High School in Nixa, Missouri. Huskers projected to land four-star defensive lineman
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have been projected to land a four-star prospect and class of 2025 recruit. Kade Pietrzak is a defensive lineman for Sheyenne High School in West Fargo, ND. Pietrzak is currently ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the state of North Dakota for the 2025 recruiting cycle. Bryan Munson of the On3 Network has projected an expert prediction for the Husker to receive Pietzak’s commitment. Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Kansas State are believed to be in the running. The Huskers class of 2025 holds 16 commitments and is ranked No. 28 nationwide. The Cornhuskers have also been making a series of offers to 2026 recruits but have not received any commitment. S.D. team ties for 2nd at 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships
South Dakota’s team tied for second place for the sweepstakes award at the 2024 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships. Thirty-five youth representing South Dakota State University Extension 4-H competed at the national championships from June 24-28 in Grand Island, Nebraska. The annual competition drew 708 youth from 40 states to demonstrate their abilities in archery and shooting across multiple disciplines.
