Fire Damages East Lincoln Home Early Monday
LINCOLN–(KFOR July 22)–A house fire in the Meadow Lane area of east Lincoln early Monday left about $80,000 worth of damage. Lincoln Fire and Rescue were called to a home in the 7100 block of Eastborough Lane around 2am Monday, after one of the residents smelled smoke. Smoke detectors went off, alerting all four residents and two dogs to get out. No one was hurt and LFR officials are calling it accidental cooking to blame for the fire.

Commission approves ‘racino’ license transfer to Ogallala in western Nebraska
LINCOLN — The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission has unanimously approved transferring a racing license from a racetrack in Hastings to a new facility in Ogallala. Commissioners voted 7-0 Friday to allow the license transfer for Hastings Exposition and Racing Inc. The company plans to partner with Elite Casino Resorts, which owns the resort in Grand Island, and plans to establish a multi-track quarter horse racing circuit in western Nebraska.

Baeza Hits for Cycle and Saltdogs Break Out for 10-run Sixth Inning to Defeat Railroaders. The Lincoln Saltdogs exploded for 10 runs in the sixth inning to take the series over the Cleburne Railroaders on Sunday by a final of 17-8. Alex Baeza posted his first career cycle, the first for Lincoln since the 2017 season. He went on to reach base a total of six times without being retired. Lincoln finishes the first half of the baseball season with a 23-42 record and are off for the next three days because of the American Association All-Star Break.

Recent data shows that the four new teams will have the most ground to cover. UCLA will travel over 22,000 miles for the 2024 Big Ten football season, with an average round trip of 3,764 miles. McCook Aquatic Park is now open
The McCook Aquatic Park held their grand opening Wednesday. The park is a great addition to the community that has gone without an outdoor pool for the last two summers. The aquatic center was a decade-long effort with the pool committee beginning the process in 2015. Many kids have been long awaiting the grand opening, including fifth graders, Anthony Clapp and Grady Pohl.
