Whew! This one is definitely under the wire or better yet, headed for stardom! Not to let this slip by without making it onto your calendar this weekend for July 14, beginning at 4 p.m., is the Broadway Summer Celebration presented by the Pocono Center for the Arts at Shawnee Inn. Five bona fide Broadway stars will sing up a storm joined by a special guest appearance by 17-year-old violin prodigy Gabriela Salvador Riera just prior to her Carnegie Hall debut!

Each of the stars have impressive show resumes along with nominations for coveted awards. There are so many shows, only a sampling can fit into this column. You will see Danny Gardner from "Dames at Sea," "A Christmas Carol" and "White Christmas." Jamie LaVerdiere from "The Producers" and "Motown the Musical." Joining them is Christiane Noll, from "Dear Evan Hansen," "Chaplin" and "It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues."

And the list grows, Julie Reiber from "Come From Away," "Wicked" and "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever," who will be joined by Nyla Watson from "Waitress." The program is produced and hosted by New York casting director and Producing Artistic Director Stephen DeAngelis. Hear behind the scenes stories and enjoy top notch performances that are great for all ages.

Those who have had the pleasure of seeing previous shows DeAngelis has brought to the Poconos know that they are in for a rare treat. Another special treat is returning Musical Director/Accompanist Eugene Gwozdz, who has spent the last year and a half on the road in major cities across the country as musical supervisor and orchestrator for the new musical, "Here You Come Again" with a score featuring the songs of legendary Dolly Parton!

These professionals will be joined by local performers from the Shawnee Playhouse, and new to the program is the addition of a major dance component! The concert will show off its new stage with dimensions larger than any other Pocono Center for the Performing Arts has ever had!

If you were lucky enough to attend the April 21 event of Pocono Center for the Performing Arts, you saw a well-deserved presentation of the Andrei Award presented to Jody Singer recognizing his creative and visionary impact on the tapestry of Stroudsburg. His vibrant crosswalks to the playful chalk art appearing on sidewalks throughout the town reflects his creative spirit. Whether crafting snowmen or coordinating intricate ice creations, his artistic contributions are truly awe-inspiring!

Origins Gallery and the artists that embody it stand as a beacon of creativity and community, thanks in large part to Jody’s dedication. Serving as a gathering place for artists young and old, it fosters collaboration, camaraderie and boundless imagination. Stroudsburg has flourished under his guidance and benefited from his unwavering commitment to enhance its cultural landscape. An honor well-earned!
