Extensive fire damage closes Lehigh Valley Italian restaurant
An Italian restaurant in Hanover Township, Northampton County, sustained significant damage due to a fire Sunday morning, according to the township fire chief. Firefighters responded at 9 a.m. Sunday to the fire at Nonna Sulina’s Sicilian Kitchen and Grill at 5000 Bath Pike, according to Hanover Township, Northampton County, Fire Chief Scott Van Why.

WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. — Whitehall-Coplay School District officials showed off the newly finished Gockley Elementary School at 2940 MacArthur Road for the first time Sunday. The two-story, 93,000-square-foot building for the district's kindergarten and first-grade students replaces the old Gockley Elementary School at 2932 Zephyr Blvd., which was built in 1978.

BETHEL TWP. | The Riverton-Belvidere bridge’s pedestrian walkway is scheduled to shut down Monday so needed repairs can be made to bulging masonry wing walls on the structure’s Pennsylvania side, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission said. “Once started, the walkway closure is estimated to remain in place without interruption for up to 35 days,” the DRJTBC said in a news release. “Weather permitting, that means pedestrian access could be restored by Aug. 25.” The two-lane bridge connecting Northampton and Warren counties across the Delaware River is expected to remain open to motor-vehicle traffic while the repairs are made.
