2008 Stuart murder case gets true-crime TV spotlight Sunday night on Oxygen

A Martin County murder case will be catapulted into the national spotlight in a new episode of the true-crime show "Snapped."

The episode, "Nicole Thornhill," will air at 6 p.m. Sunday on Oxygen, kicking off the show's 34th season.

The hour-long episode will look at the Christopher Tomlinson and Nicole Claire Thornhill murder case. Tomlinson killed Gerald Jensen with a sword April 21, 2008, in Stuart.

Tomlinson and Thornhill also poisoned a gallon of milk and a bottle of tequila with a nonprescription sleeping aid in a failed attempt to poison Jensen. However, a forensic expert testified, the amount of the drug found was not lethal.

Even though Thornhill was not present when Jensen, her stepfather, was killed by her then-boyfriend Tomlinson, she admitted to helping clean up and dispose of the body at an apartment complex trash container. Sanitation workers unknowingly transported his body to the Palm Beach County landfill, where it was found three days later.

Tomlinson was convicted in 2010 and sentenced to life in prison. Thornhill pled no contest to second-degree murder and was sentenced in 2010 to 50 years in prison.
