Manicure, pedicure, body massage, scalp massage — who doesn’t like to get pampered? It’s so relaxing, and you do feel (and look) better afterward. Many travelers splurge on these luxuries when they go on vacation; I see it all the time at the resorts in Cabo San Lucas. But how many indulge at home? Or is it only a “vacation” thing?

There are day spas in Boise where you can enjoy the same treatments. Not something that appeals to most men (at lest the ones I know) is having a “spa day,” which usually entails spending most of the day at the spa receiving many type of treatments as well as healthy and nutritous beverages and/or foods. I looked into various spa services in and around Boise, and here is a summary of what I found.

Not too far down the road from where I live is Panache Hair Studio & Day Spa. They also have locations in Eagle and in Meridian. When one typically thinks of a day spa, services for women are what immediately come to mind. Well, time to change that thinking. Not only are their spa services available for men (and also for couples), they even have a barber shop whose “haircuts include value-added services such as scalp massages, neck and shoulder massages, and energizing aromatic hot facial towels.”

Located on West Idaho Street in a location that is ideal for many down Boise workers, Spa Urbana is closed on Tuesday, but open the other six days of the week. Their SERVICES menu includes Massage, Body Treatments, Organic Facials, Clinical Facials, Nails, Waxing, and Spa Packages. I counted at least nine different Massage packages, plus some treatment add-ons. The Blue Eucalyptus Energizing Massage appealed to me: “This holistic treatment combats adrenal fatigue due to our modern 24/7 lifestyle. The session begins with a steaming Blue Eucalyptus inhalation to enhance immunity, followed by a full body massage with Ginger Root Oil to re-balance the adrenal system. To finish, a cooling Peppermint balm is massaged onto the feet and calves, bringing relaxation full circle.” Doesn’t that sound heavenly? I’m ready!!!

I didn’t know how to pronounce this one, Valère, until I called them. It is pronounced as vuh-lair’. Their River Run Center location (and they also have one in the North End) was formerly called River Run Day Spa. The North End Spa is referred to as a Salon and Day Spa with the following listed services categories: Hair; Hands and Feet; Waxing and Tinting; Organic Spray Tan; Couples and Day Spas; Hot Tub and Sauna; Massage Therapy; Facials and Skin Care; Lashes and Makeup, and Bridal Services. The Park Center location is called a Medi & Day Spa with these services categories: Injections and Fillers; Advanced Facials; Aveda Facials; Massage Therapy; Permanent Makeup; Lash Extensions; Organic Spray Tan; Organic Teeth Whitening, and Waxing and Tinting.

Other day spas you might consider include:

Organic Origins Spa at 1786 West State Street in Boise. Their menu looks very nice and professional, but they only have a PDF version. I would prefer to see, at a minimum, an online version of the menu. PDF is nice, but it shouldn’t be the only one (in my opinion).

Graeber & Company Salon & Day Spa on North 9th Street is certainly convenient for downtowners and those in the North End. I like that they include a full page on Covid-19 Health & Safety Protocol in their Services Menu. To me, it shows that they do care about their customers, and their employees!

The Studio An Elite Salon & Spa is also downtown on West Idaho Street. They are open Monday through Saturday, and by appointment. Their home page has the following:

Premier Salon and Spa services in a comfortable atmosphere that ensures relaxation.

Dedicated to you, providing you with the best services, to help you feel great and look your best.

Cruelty free products, European Organic standards, Local and Family owned.

Heidi Lane Esthetics has two locations: downtown Boise and the Boise Depot Bench. They are “an intimate skincare boutique specializing in providing a heavy dose of relaxation with results-driven treatments. … Our natural skincare products coupled with results-driven face and body treatments give you fabulous looking skin with each visit.”

Whether you are looking for a relaxing spa visit for yourself or as a gift to someone else, there is only word that fits: ENJOY!
