CONSTANTINE — Constantine seniors Meah Evans and Jozee Buglione knew there was going to be some emotions on Thursday evening. The Falcon volleyball team has been playing well to this point in the season, but both had the chance to surpass some special numbers in the match with visiting Coloma.

And right on schedule, both Buglione and Evans were able to reach those goals. Evans surpassed 1,000 career assists for Constantine and Buglione surpassed 600 career kills.

"I've been looking at this since freshman year, it's a big part of my volleyball career and I'm very happy I got it," Evans said following the match.

Constantine won the match, beating Coloma in three sets at 27-25, 25-23 and 33-31. Yes, the third set was lengthy and seemed to go on forever. Buglione said the Falcons are made for playing in matches like Thursdays, when the team relies on each other and believes good things will happen.

"Our grit, we gel so well and I feel like our team is family. We've grown up together, undefeated seventh grade year, undefeated eighth grade year, we put in that work," Buglione said. "The passion of this team, it's huge."

Buglione said she was happy to reach the 600 kills.

"It's huge for me. I've loved playing volleyball and never really thought I'd get to something this big, but I knew I wanted to reach certain goals," she said. "I'm really proud of it, but I couldn't have done it without my setter."

Constantine improved to 17-2-2 on the season with the win. Falcon head coach Tiffany Lewis said Buglione and Evans are two big reasons the team is having success.

"Jozee and Meah are two huge leaders for us, Jozee has worked really hard on being a positive force on the court," she said. "Meah has always been super positive and encouraging. Without them and the senior class, we couldn't be having the success we've been having."

Lewis is new to Constantine as a coach this year, but has previously coached both Buglione and Evans. Each senior said they were happy she is their high school coach this year and they believe the team can continue to keep playing well. Lewis admitted it's been a learning experience to this point in the season, but she gets help from her past coaching experiences and her strong coaching staff.

Altogether, Constantine is pointed in the right direction and ready for what is coming the remainder of the season. Lewis said her team knows the matches are going to get harder as they get toward the end of the schedule and into the post season. She is always reminding her team not to get too high or too low.

Buglione finished with 16 kills on Thursday, Jaedyn Herein had seven. Evans handed out 26 assists while Buglione recorded four blocks, Sienna Salisbury totaled two blocks with five kills and 10 digs.

"Keep playing hard," Buglione said on what's next for the Falcons. "Keep putting in the work and being good teammates."
