    Sturgis swimmers win 10 of 12 events in home victory

    STURGIS - The Sturgis swim and dive team notched another victor at home on Tuesday. The Lady Trojans welcomed Otsego to the community pool and picked up a 104-75 win.

    Sturgis logged first place in 10 of the 12 events on the evening.

    Emma and Hannah Garbine were a part of five of those first-place finishes. Emma swam to first overall in the 200 freestyle at 2:10.08 and the 100 freestyle at 57.39 seconds to sweep the sprint races. Hannah won the 100 butterfly at 1:08.19.

    Hannah also teamed up with Kenzy Triezenberg, Ava Albarran and Mia Albarran to win the 200 freestyle relay at 1:53.02. Emma was part of the 200 medley relay winning team with Kaylee Draper, Triezenberg and Ainsley Gump at 1:59.41.

    Draper won the 50 freestyle at 26.52 seconds. She also took first place in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:47.26. Gump swam to first place in the 100 backstroke at 1:05.75 and had a state-qualifying time in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:20.24.

    Triezenberg paced the field in the 100 breaststroke, posting a time of 1:17.70.

    Sturgis' 200 medley relay team of Haley Gilette, Ella Whitehead, Rylee Myers and Valeria Sheshenia posted a time of 2:42.67 for third place. The 200 freestyle relay team of Mia Feyes, Lilly Whitehead, Chloe Clark and Sydney Herblet swam a time of 2:07.67 for third.

    Herblet took fourth in the 200 free (2:29.83), Feyes was fifth at 2:29.98. Hannah Garbine was second overall in the 200 IM at 2:33.37, Triezenberg came in fifth (2:40.30).

    Mia Albarran was third in the 50 freestyle (28.10) and Lilly Whitehead came in fourth (30.76). Mia Albarran then swam to fourth in the 100 butterfly at 1:15.07 while Clark, who was celebrating her 17th birthday, came in fifth at 1:16.90. Males had a time of 1:07.48 to finish third in the 100 freestyle, Ava Albarran was fourth at 1:09.25.

    Cora Taylor finished second in the diving competition with 156.20 points.

    Herblet's time of 6:44.53 was fourth in the 500 free, Myers posted 7:26.71 for fifth. Feyes finished fourth in the 100 backstroke at 1:16.75 and Males was fifth at 1:20.67.

    In the 200 free relay, the team of Feyes, Lilly Whitehead, Clark and Herblet came in third at 2:07.67.
