    NWS confirms tornado was in Union Co. on May 26

    HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The National Weather Service (NWS) of Paducah confirms an EF-0 tornado hit Union County on May 26.

    The NWS released its damage survey results, and stated the event started on May 26 at 7:34 p.m. 12 miles northwest of Sturgis. The NWS stated the event ended at 7:42 p.m. 12 miles north of Sturgis.

    Some Sturgis residents saying lack of election information is “intentional”

    The NWS stated there were isolated large tree limbs down from near the Ohio River to just east of Highway 109. The estimated peak wind was 75 mph, and the tornado lasted for four miles.

    According to the NWS, the EF Scale incorporates 28 damage indicators such as building type, structures and trees. For each damage indicator, there are 8 degrees of damage ranging from the beginning of visible damage to complete destruction of the damage indicator. There are six stages of this scale.
