HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) says Union County EMA will be installing the flood gates on KY 923, also known as Old Providence Road, in Sturgis on June 27 as a part of a routine annual inspection, forcing a temporary closure of the roadway at the flood wall.

Officials say according to the EMA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requires at least one of the city’s gates to be installed annually as part of a routine inspection of the flood wall around the city of Sturgis.

Lane closures planned for I-69 in Vanderburgh Co.

KYTC officials say crews plan to begin installing the gate at around 8 a.m. and hope to have the roadway reopened by noon. There will not be a marked detour, but drivers can easily bypass the flood gate by using KY 109
