21-Year-Old Accused In Shooting That Injured 2 Young Girls In Troy
Keovion Goodwine, of Troy, was taken into custody Tuesday, July 2, on attempted murder and related charges. Troy Police did not publicize the arrest until Tuesday, July 16. According to investigators, Goodwine shot two girls, ages 11 and 14, near Fourth and Madison streets shortly after midnight on Sunday, May 12. Both victims were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Troy's City Council approves Alalkawi settlement
The City of Troy has settled a lawsuit following the death of a delivery driver killed in a collision with a city police officer last year. The city will pay more than $5.75 million to the family of Sabeeh Alalkawi, who was killed when officer Justin Byrnes allegedly ran a red light at a high rate of speed without his siren on while responding to a domestic violence incident. The lawsuit was filed by Alalkawi’s wife in October. Mayor Carmella Mantello says she’s happy to put the February 2023 incident “in the past.”
