August is the last full month of summer, which means fall (and cooler temperatures) are upon us. If this has you itching to go through your closet and refresh your wardrobe for the autumn season, you’re not alone. This is one of my favorite months to go shopping for cozy pieces, like a new pullover sweater that I know I’ll live in and a fresh pair of denim jeans for those chilly days. And, right now, the Target Denim Take Back Event makes that even easier.

From now through August 10, 2024, Target Circle members can get 20 percent off denim apparel when they recycle their old denim items from any brand. The Target Denim Take Back Event is one of the best ways to get rid of items that no longer fit or have holes in them in a responsible (and rewarding) way. Through the program, Target partners with organizations to recycle denim items into new products, including housing insulation. With so much fashion waste out there, this is a great way to treat your wardrobe to a refresh and give garments a whole new life.
What Is the Target Denim Take Back Event?
Target Denim Take Back is a savings event held by Target from August 4 through August 10, 2024. It’s an incentivizing program that encourages Target customers to responsibly recycle old denim garments and receive a 20 percent off coupon for new denim items, including jeans, jackets, shirts, hats, and more.
This event is an in-store-only event, and from now through August 10, stores will have drop-off boxes conveniently located near the Guest Services center. There is a donation limit of five items per household so keep that in mind when participating.

What Is Recycled Denim Used For?
In an effort to support a more sustainable fashion industry, Target partners with organizations to transform denim garment donations into new products. One example of this is housing insulation, which is a popular use of recycled denim (and recycling efforts other brands like Madewell also contribute to). Recycled denim can also be repurposed into more garments and used to things like bags, clothing, and more.
How to Get a Target Discount on Denim
Once you donate your denim at a Target store, scan the signs near the drop-off boxes to receive your bonus straight to your account. The bonus is limited to one coupon per Target Circle membership and is only valid during the event. However, you can use the coupon online, so if you don’t feel like shopping after donating or your local Target store doesn’t have what you’re looking for, you won’t miss out on the savings.
