I Tried Tory Burch’s New Sublime Perfume & It’s Surprisingly Earthy

I’m on the hunt for a new fall scent, so I hopped on the chance to try Tory Burch’s new Sublime perfume. When I think of Tory Burch , I am transported to a world that is floral, feminine, and delicate—so I was surprised by the perfume’s strong and spicy scent.

Per the official press release, Tory Burch wants wearers to feel “confident” and “sensual” via the fragrance’s blend of Osmanthus flower, earthy vetiver, and bright Italian mandarin. The sexy combination is meant to also honor the luxury lifestyle label’s iconic leather creations. Additionally, Tory Burch tapped Kendall Jenner to be the face of the new scent. In campaign assets, Jenner is seen posing alongside a life-size bottle of the perfume, wearing a figure-hugging slip dress complemented by a bold crimson lip. “Sublime is beautiful, it’s sexy, it’s confident,” Jenner said in a statement. “It starts with loving yourself and understanding that you’re worth everything beautiful in the world. I like to remind myself of that daily.”

When I received the perfume, I was immediately drawn to the bottle. The casing takes the shape of the brand’s signature “T,” but in an sculptural and abstract way. It features a metallic ball cap and a curvilinear glass silhouette. The design is drastically different from other Tory Burch scents, which appear more traditional and modest in design. Sublime’s look, however, aligns perfectly with Tory Burch’s “cool girl” resurgence.

While the brand has always been relevant, it appeared to transform (subtly) on the fall/winter 2024 runway during New York Fashion Week earlier this year. Models, including Emily Ratajkowski , strutted down the catwalk in sophisticated yet sultry ensembles including flirty sheer frocks, croc-embossed mini dresses, and artful two-pieces—a drastically different feel from previous collections. Sublime offers a similar powerful and dainty aura with top notes of urban ivy accord, upcycled peach, base notes of tethered leather accord and patchouli.

How to Use Sublime Perfume

With one spritz, my immediate surroundings were filled with a dainty, citrus spice that felt fierce and robust. While a little goes a long way, I tend to be heavy handed as I like my scents to last. For extra long wear security, apply to the insides of the elbows, back of the knees, chest, and sides of the neck. We recommend spritzing immediately after showering and moisturizing with a scent-free lotion. I prefer to use body butter (or Vaseline) as it locks in scent better—especially on the legs.

Sublime perfectly mixes cutesy and demurtsy—creating a perfect summer-to-fall transitional scent that feels girly and grown, flirty but sophisticated. If you’re looking for a fragrance that is on the cusp of being warm and woody, but is still earthy and fruity, Sublime is ideal. In addition to the previous scent notes mentioned above, hints of upcycled rose, osmanthus absolute, and magnolia accord are present. Furthermore, if you’re used to stronger, masculine scents—but want to try something more airy, Sublime is a nice gateway. Plus, the overall aesthetic of the bottle can serve as artful vanity decoration.

I was also pleasantly surprised by how long the scent lasted. I first applied on the morning of a day trip to the Hamptons where it was above 80 degrees, and despite sweating profusely, I still smelled the fragrance well into the evening.
