During an episode of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After , though, Ed explained his hesitation about dating a fan. “Would I date a fan? I have [and] I don’t recommend it. Here’s why: They like Big Ed, the character that I created, and once they get to know the real Ed … it’s not the same. So, dating fans, in general, [isn’t] a good idea,” he said.

“I’m looking for somebody that respects me, that I can respect somebody that’s secure. Being a public figure, it’s really difficult and [is] for a lot of relationships. So I’m looking for somebody that doesn’t want to be in the spotlight, doesn’t want to be on TV.”
