Warning: The Golden Bachelorette Season 1 spoilers ahead: Ever since ABC’s cliffhanger of Joan’s frontrunner getting into a car and driving away from Bachelor Mansion, fans have been left with one question on their minds: Does Chock leave The Golden Bachelorette ?!

Charles “Chock” Chapple, a 60-year-old Insurance Executive from Wichita, Kansas, was one of 24 contestants on the first season of The Golden Bachelorette led by Joan Vassos . Joan, a 61-year-old Private School Administrator from Rockville, Maryland, was previously a contestant on Season 1 of The Golden Bachelor with Gerry Turner , where she sent herself home in 12th place in Week 3 to care for her daughter, who had a medical emergency.

Chock — who was one of Joan’s few Golden Bachelorette contestants to receive an intro package on night one — went on his first one-on-one date with Joan (and Joan’s first one-on-one date of the season) in Episode 2 where they go to Disneyland. From his limo entrance, Chock was a fan favorite among viewers — and Joan. But was his journey to love cut short?

The preview for Episode 2 of The Golden Bachelorette ended with a clip of Chock crying before he had an emotional conversation with Joan in which she hugged him. “I feel so bad for him. And if he doesn’t return, that changes this whole journey for me,” Joan says as the preview showed Chock getting into a car and closing the door.

So does Chock leave The Golden Bachelorette ? The answer is no. According to Reality Steve, Chock returns to The Golden Bachelorette and is actually Joan’s winner. Chock received Chock’s last rose at the Final Rose Ceremony in The Golden Bachelorette finale after Joan’s other finalists — Guy Gansert, a 66-year-old ER Doctor from Reno, Nevada, and Pascal Ibgur, a 69-year-old Salon Owner from Glencoe, Illinois — went home. Though Reality Steve couldn’t confirm who was the runner-up and who came in third place between Guy and Pascal, he did report that Pascal self-eliminated because he wasn’t in love with Joan, while Joan sent home Guy.

Reality Steve couldn’t confirm whether Chock and Joan are engaged, however, Joan hinted that she wasn’t engaged in an interview with People in September 2024. “I said all along I didn’t need to leave engaged,” Joan said. “My goal was to leave in a committed relationship. I wanted to have somebody I saw a future with and that we wanted to see how it works in the real world outside of the Bachelor bubble. I didn’t want to go through all of this and be at the same place I was when I came to the mansion.”

She also told the magazine that she wouldn’t move for her Golden Bachelorette winner, which may pose an issue for her relationship with Chock as Joan lives in Maryland, while Chock lives in Kansas. “I would never want to leave my family,” Joan said. “My kids and my grandkids all live really close to me and not being close to them all the time would not work for me. They’re the most important people in my life. I felt that anybody that I would be a good match for, they would have the same family values as I have and would not want to leave their family.”

Joan sent home her fourth-place finalist, Jordan Heller, a 61-year-old Sales Manager from Riverwoods, Illinois, after Hometown Dates. Reality Steve originally reported that Chock came in third place on Joan’s Golden Bachelorette season, while Guy was her winner. However, he later corrected himself and confirmed that Chock was Joan’s winner.

The Golden Bachelorette is available to stream on Hulu .
