The Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts has announced that its in-house gift shop will reopen this fall. The shop, now named “110 FINNEY ~ Creative Gifts with an Artful Edge,” will be located in the same space as the former Jester’s Gallery Gifts, which closed during the COVID-19 pandemic and the Center’s $4.5 million renovation. Situated on the first floor of the Center, the newly reimagined shop will feature fresh colors, innovative ideas, and a renewed commitment to its mission: catering to discerning buyers who seek unique gifts and art created by talented artisans. The shop will continue Jester’s tradition of providing excellent customer service with a personal touch.

A special committee is currently conducting a “Call to Artists” to select both consignment and resident artists who will contribute to the vision of delivering “Creative Gifts with an Artful Edge.” A new design element within 110 FINNEY will showcase three resident artists working in their studios, allowing shoppers the unique opportunity to observe artists in action while browsing a variety of one-of-a-kind gifts.

The application deadline for the “Call to Artists” is September 3, 2024. The committee is eager to engage with artists interested in learning more about the new shop, its offerings to the greater Suffolk community, and how they might fit into this distinctive community asset. Artists must create original works, including but not limited to paintings, pottery, jewelry, glass, textiles, photography, and other mediums.

Individual artist tours of 110 FINNEY are available for those considering joining this newly imagined shopping experience. For more information about becoming a resident or display artist or to schedule a tour, contact the committee at 110Finney@SuffolkCenter.org or visit https://suffolkcenter.org/110Finney/. The Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts is located in historic downtown Suffolk at 110 W. Finney Ave., Suffolk, VA 23434.
