Suffolk City Council accepted an ordinance to accept funding for the Pughsville Area Drainage Improvement project during their Wednesday, Oct. 2 council meeting.

Council approved an ordinance to appropriate $952,194 in revenue share funds from the Virginia Department of Transportation towards Phase 2 of the Pughsville Area Drainage Improvement project. Due to an estimate change, the ordinance details an additional $1,000,000 needed to complete the construction of the project. City Manager Albert S. Moor II provided more details during the meeting.

“Due to the change in project costs, a transfer of $1,952,194 is available in the Olde Town Drainage Improvement project, which is currently in preliminary design with construction scheduled for the out years,” Moor said. “Adoption of the ordinance will increase the revenues and expenditures of [the] Stormwater Capital Fund budget by the $952,194 and authorize the transfer of $1,952,194 from the Olde Town Drainage Improvement project to the Pughsville Area Drainage Improvement project.”
