    Gas line struck by construction crew on Kenyon Road, prompting evacuation

    According to a press release, Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded to an emergency call in the 200 block of Kenyon Road on Wednesday morning, June 5, 2024, at approximately 12 p.m.

    The incident occurred when a construction crew struck a gas line while performing work in the area. Approximately nine workers were evacuated. Virginia Natural Gas crews are currently en route to address the situation, and the area surrounding the leak has been secured and blocked off.

    There have been no reported injuries associated with this incident.
