Kikuchi strikes out 12 in seven innings as Astros beat Royals
Yusei Kikuchi dominated on the mound for the Houston Astros, striking out 12 batters over seven innings to secure a 5-2 victory against the Kansas City Royals. Since his acquisition, Kikuchi has maintained a 2.57 ERA and has won all three of his starts with the team. While the Royals' Cole Ragans excelled in the early innings, he faltered in the sixth, allowing a five-run outburst from the Astros. Bobby Witt Jr. managed a late home run for Kansas City, but it wasn't enough to change the outcome.

Winning a Super Bowl has never been easy. In the salary cap and free agency era, sustaining that success has become nearly impossible. The NFL is designed to drag every team to the league average. Championship teams must contend with the complacency that comes from winning and the attrition that comes from playing extended seasons. Salary cap restrictions make it difficult to retain talented players, and picking last in each round of the NFL Draft makes it difficult to replace that talent. Even the strength of schedule becomes more difficult.
