Nobody puts Sierra Ferrell in a corner. The reigning Saving Country music Artist of the Year was set to play Sunday afternoon at the Under The Big Sky Fest in beautiful Whitefish, Montana, but it was only an hour long set, and wasn’t even direct support of the headliner Billy Strings. Part of that speaks to the talent assembled at independent country’s first ever megafest. Mt. Joy played after Sierra, and put on a rousing set per normal. Kalispell City Council to vote on revoking a local homeless shelter’s permit
The Kalispell City Council is set to vote July 16th on whether to revoke a local homeless shelter’s permit. Residents have complained that the Flathead Warming Center has increased crime and loitering in the adjacent neighborhood. Shelter staff say that’s the result of homelessness increasing throughout the Flathead Valley as housing costs continue to increase.

BOISE — A protest, deemed the “People’s Liberated University,” has been taking place on the lawn in front of the old Ada County Courthouse since the start of May. While not made up exclusively of students, it was originally tied to student activism that has been taking place throughout the United States in response to the Israel-Hamas war. The protest in Boise, which has predominantly been held adjacent to the Idaho State Capitol, was in response to Israel’s invasion of the Palestinian territories following Hamas’ attack on Israel last October. Stevensville to fix Father Ravalli Park fence
After more than three years, the Town of Stevensville is finally looking to do something about the fence in front of Father Ravalli Park. A popular location for soccer and t-ball games, around three years ago the park also added a playground. During that project, a stretch of the fence was folded back, out of the way. This was done to allow vehicles and construction equipment to more easily enter the park to build the playground. After the project was finished, the fence was never returned to normal. This has led to some concern from the Stevensville community about the overall look of the park since the project.
Fergus county resident receives Montana 4-H Foundation scholarship
BOZEMAN — The Montana 4-H Foundation recently announced that it has awarded nearly $40,000 in scholarships to 45 graduating 4-H members and alumni. The recipients, from 28 Montana counties and tribal areas, can use the scholarships for post-secondary education during the 2024-2025 academic year. Scholarship recipients were recognized July 11 at the 2024 Montana 4-H Congress held onthe Montana State University campus in Bozeman.
