SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — There are many different kinds of fair foods. The tradition in Sullivan is a milkshake.

The 12-ounce chocolate milkshake sells for just $1 with all of the profits going to 4-H. It originated back at the old fairgrounds in the early 1950s, but the Prairie Farms mix and machine has been used since 1986. If you have purchased one in the last 38 years, chances are you have seen Rusty Deckard.

“My daughter started keeping records in 2005,” Deckard said. “Since then we have sold 131,000 plus milkshakes. 4-H in Sullivan County has got $72,000 out of those milkshakes for their programs here in the county.”

The milkshake booth is operating from the opening of the fair all the way to the final minute.
