Lady Bears finish in 12th place at State meet

SB caps off great season

LEANDER — The Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears golf teams polished off a successful season this week by finishing 12th at the UIL State Golf meet at the Crystal Falls Golf Club in Leander. They would come up with a score of 502 on the first day, and then a 501 on the following day, giving them an overall score of 1,003.

On the opening day of the competition, Emma Carr was the Lady Bears’ top scorer, shooting a 118. Following closely behind her was Ryleigh Bell with a 122.

Jadi Jones followed right behind bell with a 123. Zaylee Peyton rounded out the scoring with a 139, brining the Lady Bears’ total score to 502.

The following day, Carr once again led the Lady Bears with a 111, giving her a two-day total of 229. Bell finished second on the second day with a 128, bringing her total score to 256.

Peyton shot a 129 on the following day, making her two-day total score 268. Jones rounded out the scoring with a 133 on the last day, bringing her overall score to 256.

With that, the Lady Bears ended the season with a 12th place finish in the state. They will look to improve in the offseason and return to the State meet next year.
