Man arrested in Paris after allegedly assaulting ex-girlfriend, ramming her car
PARIS, Texas (KXII) - Paris Police arrested a man after he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend and rammed into her vehicle several times. The department said officers were called to meet a woman who said her ex-boyfriend, Justin Horne, 29, had boxed her in and tried to take her car keys when she tried to leave a parking lot in the 1600 block of Lamar Avenue.

Paris Junior College baseball tops in national GPA and 55 athletes named to NJCAA all-academic teams. For the second year in row, a grade point average (GPA) of 3.88 clinched the number one spot nationally for the Paris Junior College baseball team, according to the National Junior College Athletic Association. The team also achieved a 3.88 GPA last year to be named first in the nation for the sport of baseball.

Paris ISD Hosting In Person Registration, Tuesday 07.23
Paris ISD is hosting an in-person registration event for incoming Pre-Kindergarten through 12th-grade students on Tuesday, July 23. This registration will be at the Paris Junior High gymnasium at 2400 Jefferson Road and will run from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. It will allow families flexibility in attending and completing the registration process.
Arrest Made In Paris Shooting Incident
On Saturday, officers contacted Jairus Naqwell Garnes, 20, in the 1000 block of NE 8th St., knowing that Garnes had outstanding warrants for his arrest. Garnes admitted to possession of a handgun in his backpack. Officers recovered the gun with the serial number showing tampering. Officers discovered that Garnes was also a convicted felon. They charged him with warrants for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon X 3, Felon in Possession of Firearm warrant X 1, and on view charges of Felon in Possession of Firearm “On View” as well as Tampering with Identifying Numbers, on view. He was booked and transported to Lamar County Jail. This arrest stemmed from a July 9 incident in which Garnes was involved in a shooting in the Booker T Washington Apartments.

The Paris Police Department is hosting “Unity With The Community” at 2910 Clarksville St on Saturday, July 27, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. There will be live music with Karl Louis and Rue 82, free games, face painting, Hot Dogs, Bounce Houses, Sno Cones, and other vendor activities. Special guests will be the Paris Fire, Paris EMS, Lamar Co. Sheriff’s Dept., Paris “SWAT,” Air EVAC, Reno Police, and the Roxton, Chicota, and Faught Volunteer Fire Departments.
