    Sulphur Springs goes 5-3 in eight games

    The Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats resumed play last week by hosting the Sulphur Springs Tournament. During that time, the Lady Wildcats performed well, going 5-3 in the eight games they played.

    In their opening game, the Lady Wildcats took on the Edgewood Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Wildcats came up with a sweep in that game, with set scores of 25-15 and 25-15.

    Rainey Johnson had a strong performance with 10 kills, six digs, three aces and two blocks. Trinity Jefferson came up with nine assists, three digs, two blocks, two kills and one ace.

    Harper Hodges tallied seven assists, five digs and one ace. Peyton Taylor finished with four digs, one ace and one assist.

    Preslee Hardy totaled three kills and three blocks. Aaliyah Cheatum came away with three blocks, two kills and two digs.

    Tessa Allen tallied two digs, one ace and one assist. Kyra Carter came up with two kills and one dig. Other contributors to the win included Alani Pruitt with one kill and one block, Kaylee Carter with one block and Madison Jeter with one dig.

    For their second game, the Lady Wildcats played the Cumby Lady Trojans. The Lady Wildcats picked up another sweep in that game, with set scores of 2511 and 25-14.

    Jefferson recorded 10 assists, eight digs and two kills. Johnson was once again a key presence with eight kills, two digs and one block.

    Hardy finished with six kills, three digs and one block. Hodges tallied five assists and one kill.

    Taylor racked up four digs and three aces. Allen also recorded four digs and three aces.

    Cheatum came away with three aces, one kill and one block.

    Additional contributors included Jeter with three digs and one kill; Pruitt with two assists and one block; Kyra Carter with one kill, one block and one dig,; and Kaylee Carter with one kill.

    In their third game, the Lady Wildcats took on the Mount Vernon Lady Tigers. Sulphur Springs picked up yet another sweep in that game, with sets scores of 25-9 and 25-12.

    Jefferson came away with 10 assists, three digs, one kill, one block and one ace.

    Kyra Carter led in kills with seven, and also tallied one block and one dig. Hodges finished with six assists, four digs and two aces.

    Johnson recorded five kills, four aces, three digs, one assist and one ace.

    Allen tallied four digs, one ace and one assist.

    Hardy finished with four kills and one block.

    Taylor ended the game with three digs and one ace. Other contributors to the victory included Kaylee Carter with two kills, Amy Hurtado with two digs and one ace, Jeter with two digs, Cheatum with one kill and one dig, and Pruitt with one assist and one dig.

    For their fourth game, the Lady Wildcats played the Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears. The Lady Wildcats came out on top in three sets, with scores being 25-0, 19-25 and 25-20.

    Hodges led the way with 14 assists, six digs and five aces. Johnson recorded 10 kills, five aces, four digs and two assists.

    Jefferson finished with nine assists, seven kills, four digs and one ace.

    Taylor was the leader in digs with seven, adding two assists.

    Kyra Carter came away with six kills, five aces and one dig.

    Allen contributed five digs. Hardy totaled four kills. Other contributors included Cheatum with two kills and two digs, Jeter with two digs, Kaylee Carter with one ace and Pruitt with one kill.

    The Lady Wildcats’ fifth game paired them up against the Nocona Lady Indians. In a close game, the Lady Wildcats fell short in three sets, with scores of 22-25, 25-18 and 24-26.

    Jefferson totaled 17 assists, eight kills, eight digs, four blocks and two aces.

    Hodges was second in assists with 16, adding five aces and five digs.

    Johnson recorded a 13kill, 11-dig double-double, also tallying three blocks, one ace and one assist. Taylor also had double-digit digs with 10, adding three assists. Kyra Carter finished with eight kills, four digs, three aces and two blocks.

    Hardy totaled six kills, two blocks and two digs. Jeter contributed five digs.

    Cheatum was a steady presence with three kills, three blocks and two digs.

    Other contributors included Pruitt with two blocks and two digs, Allen with two digs, Kaylee Carter with one kill and one dig, and Lauren Dittrich with one dig.

    For their sixth game, the Lady Wildcats played the Hughes Springs Lady Mustangs. Sulphur Springs picked up another sweep in that game, with scores of 25-19 and 25-12.

    Taylor came up with 12 digs and three aces. Jefferson totaled eight digs and seven assists.

    Kyra Carter tallied four kills and three aces. Hodges finished with four assists, three digs, one assist and one ace. Allen came away with three digs and one assist.

    Jeter recorded three digs and one kill. Hurtado also tallied three digs. Johnson finished with two kills and one dig.

    Cheatum came up with two kills, two aces and two blocks. Additional contributors included Kaylee Carter with two blocks and one kill; Hardy with two kills; and Pruitt with one kill and one block.

    Their seventh game was played against the Prairiland Lady Patriots. The Lady Wildcats suffered a sweep in that game, with scores of 15-25 and 25-27.

    Jefferson recorded seven assists, six digs, six kills, four aces and one block. Hodges also tallied seven assists, adding six digs.

    Jeter finished with seven digs. Kyra Carter tallied six kills, two digs and one assist. Taylor came away with three digs and one ace.

    Other contributors included Kaylee Carter with two kills and two blocks; Hardy with two kills and one dig; Cheatum with two blocks and one kill; Allen with two digs, one ace and one assist; and Pruitt with two blocks.

    Their last game was played against the Greenville Lady Lions. Greenville would end Sulphur Springs’ tournament run on a sour note with by handing them a two-set loss, with set scores of 19-25 and 26-28.

    Jefferson finished with 11 digs, nine assists, six kills, two blocks and one ace, coming one assist short of a double-double. Jeter recorded nine digs and one assist. Hodges totaled nine assists, five digs and two kills.

    Johnson tallied seven kills, six digs and two blocks. Kyra Carter came up with six kills, one ace and one block. Taylor recorded four digs, two assists and one ace.

    Allen finished with three digs. Hardy totaled three kills and one block.

    Other contributors include Cheatum with two kills and one block; and Pruitt with two blocks.

    With these results, the Lady Wildcats are now 6-3 on the season. They resumed action Tuesday, welcoming Greenville to Wildcat Gym.
