Lady Trojans swept by Prairiland at home

Faulknor totals 20 assists

CUMBY — The Cumby Lady Trojans suffered a home sweep Tuesday night at the hands of the Prairiland Lady Patriots. Thughout the game, the Lady Trojans were kept off balance and couldn’t establish any rhythm, leading to a bitter loss.

The first set helped set the tone for the game early on, as the Lady Patriots got off to a fast start, while the Lady Trojans struggles. The Lady Patriots on the first set 25-9 taking the early lead.

In the second set, the Lady Patriots continued to outplay the Lady Trojans at many opportunities. Prairiland went on to win the second set 25-14, extending their lead to 2-0.

The third set was more of the same, as the Lady Trojans couldn’t figure out a way to slow down the Lady Patriots. Prairiland won the third set 25-9, completing the sweep and handing the Lady Trojans a loss.

Bella Faulknor came away with 20 assists. Macyn Pettit was right behind her with 19 assists. Jacie Morales was the leader in digs with 15, adding five assists.

Sandra McCraw totaled six kills, one block and one assist. Brynn Emeyabbi came away with four kills and four digs. Julia Hernandez finished with four digs and two assists.

Jenna Bearden recorded three kills, three digs and one block. Kinslee Dowdle also contributed with two kills and two digs.

With the loss, the Lady Trojans dropped to 1-7 on the season. They resumed action Thursday, competing in the Van Tournament.
