    The Sulphur Springs Wildcats played in their second and final scrimmage last Thursday, welcoming the Kaufman Lions to Gerald Prim Stadium. In a close game, both teams ultimately played to a 28-28 tie.

    The Lions scored the first touchdown of the game on the opening drive. This, combined with a successful extra point, gave Kaufman a 7-0 lead.

    The Wildcats got on the board next when Jaxson Haire scored on a 75yard rushing touchdown. A successful extra point by Eric Rodriguez tied the score at 7-7.

    The Lions then scored two more touchdowns, increasing their lead to 217. Later on, the Wildcats cut the score to 21-14 following a touchdown pass from Kaden Mitchell to Wyatt Watson.

    The Wildcats managed to tie the score at 21-21 on a rushing touchdown by Kyshaun John. The Lions then scored another touchdown, pulling ahead 28-21.

    The Wildcats scored again when Mitchell connected with Skyler Lewis on a touchdown pass, knotting up the score at 28-28. Both teams then failed to score on their ensuing drives, as the game ended in a 28-28 tie.

    The Wildcats open the regular season Aug. 30, when they welcome the Poteet Pirates to Gerald Prim Stadium.
