    Jefferson records doubledouble

    CANTON — The Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats suffered a tough road loss Tuesday, losing in four sets against the Canton Eaglettes. In a game where each set was high-scoring, the Lady Wildcats weren’t able to come out on top when it mattered most, leading to a bitter defeat.

    The first set would set the tone early on, with both teams playing hard and tough from the beginning. Despite a good effort by the Lady Wildcats, the Eaglettes came out on top 25-22, winning the first set and taking the initial lead.

    In the second set, both teams continued to play hard and tough, showing no signs of slowing down. The Lady Wildcats edged out a 25-22 win in the second set, tying the score at 1-1.

    The third set was yet another high-scoring affair, as both teams continued to trade points. The Eaglettes came out on top 25-22 in the third set, pulling ahead 2-1.

    The fourth set was another strong one. The Lady Wildcats tried to keep the game going, while the Eaglettes tried to close the game out. Despite another strong effort by the Lady Wildcats, the Eaglettes came out on top 25-19 in the fourth set, clinching a 3-1 win.

    Harper Hodges led in assists with 19, adding five digs and two aces. Trinity Jefferson recorded a 15-assist, 12-kill double- double, adding nine digs, two blocks and one ace, coming one dig short of a triple-double.

    Rainey Johnson was the leader in kills with 14, and blocks with four, adding three digs. Peyton Taylor tallied the most digs with 14, also tallying one assist and one kill.

    Kyra Carter came away with 11 kills, a team-high four aces, and one dig. Madison Jeter recorded 10 digs and one assist. Tessa Allen finished with six digs, one ace and one kill.

    Preslee Hardy totaled four kills, two blocks, one assist and one dig. Other contributors include Aaliyah Cheatim with two blocks, one dig and one kill; Alani Pruitt with two kills and one block; Kaylee Carter with one block and one kill; and Lauren Dittrich with one dig.

    With the loss, the Lady Wildcats dropped to 11-6 on the season. They resumed action Thursday and Saturday in the Caddo Mills Tournament. They also played a non-district game at home against the Liberty-Eylau Lady Leopards Friday.
