    Collett records 30 assists

    SULPHUR BLUFF — The Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears suffered a disappointing home loss Friday, falling to the Chapel Hill Lady Devils in four sets. Despite winning the initial set, the Lady Bears couldn’t sustain that strong play for the entire game, allowing the Lady Devils to win three straight sets to take the win. The first set saw the Lady Bears jump out to a fast start, while the Lady Devils struggled early on. The Lady Bears cruised their way to a 25-13 win, taking the lead.

    In the second set, the Lady Devils stepped their game up, as the Lady Bears struggled. The Lady Devils won the second set 25-16, tying the score at 1-1.

    The third set was a high-scoring affair, as each team battled hard for the lead. Despite a good effort by the Lady Bears, the Lady Devils emerged victorious, winning the third set 27-25 and pulling ahead 2-1.

    In the fourth set, both teams battled back and forth once again, as the Lady Bears fought to keep the game alive, while the Lady Devils tried to put the game away. Though the Lady Bears fought hard yet again, the Lady Devils once again came out on top, winning the fourth set 25-23 and completing a four-set win.

    Madi Collett finished with 30 assists, eight kills, five digs and one block. Emerson Fite led the Lady Bears in kills with 11, while also tallying five blocks.

    Zaylee Peyton had a strong game with nine kills, seven digs and two aces. Ana Servin also recorded seven digs. Kadence Smith finished with seven digs as well, adding two aces.

    Yulisa Castillo finished with six blocks and three kills. Kinder Stanley came up with five kills Other contributors include Vada Kendall, four digs; Emma Carr, three digs, one ace and one kill; and Emily Melton, two aces and two digs.

    With the loss, the Lady Bears fell to 9-14 on the season. They will have the next two dates off. Their next game is scheduled for Oct. 4, when they welcome the Dodd City Lady Hornets to Sulphur Bluff High School.
