LINDALE — The Sulphur Springs Wildcats’ season came to a close Friday after losing Game Two of their Bi-District playoffs series against the Lindale Eagles 4-0. Despite fighting hard all game long, the Wildcats couldn’t gain an upper hand, as the Eagles ended their season.

The Eagles would take the lead early on in the first inning, scoring a run and taking a 1-0 lead. A scoreless second inning followed.

In the third inning, the Eagles added onto their lead with a pair of runs, extending their lead to 3-0. This would be followed by a scoreless fourth inning.

The fifth inning saw the Eagles add on another run, bringing the score to 4-0. The sixth inning wouldn’t feature any scoring. After the Widlcats failed to score in the seventh inning, the game came to an end, as the Eagles sent the Wildcats home for the season with a 4-0 loss.

As a team, the Wildcats batted just 4 for 24 (.167) from the plate. Corbin Argenbright, Alexi Macias, Kaden Mitchell, and Josh Perkins all recorded one hit each.

Argenbright suffered the loss on the mound. Across six innings, despite tallying four strikeouts, he surrendered four hits, four runs (two earned), and three walks.

With the loss, the Wildcats’ season has come to an end. They end the season with an overall record of 6-24, finishing as Bi-District finalists.

This would also be the final high school baseball game for two senior Wildcats: Kody Barclay and Braxton Wall.

The Wildcats will look to improve in the off-season and make a deeper playoff run next year.
