KINGSLAND — The Sulphur Springs Lady Wildcats golf team capped off another successful season this week by placing ninth at the UIL State Golf Meet at the Legends Golf Course in Kingsland. They would score a 344 on the first day, and a 356 on the second day, giving them an overall score of 700.
On the opening day, Alyson Thomas would be the Lady Wildcats’ leading scorer, shooting a 77. Not far behind her was Kenzie Posey with an 83.
Evey Birdsong finished the first day with an 89. Rounding out the day was Autumn Allen with a 95, and McKenna Meskimen with a 101, giving the Lady Wildcats a 344 total score for the day.
The following day, Thomas was once again the leading scorer, shooting an 86, giving her a two-day total of 153. Following closely behind was Birdsong with an 88, brining her total score to 177.
Posey shot a 90 on the second day, raising her total score to 173. Meskimen wasn’t far behind with a 92, giving her a combined score of 193. Allen rounded out the day with a 98, also bringing her two-day total to 193.
With that, the Lady Wildcats finishing in ninth place, marking their second consecutive top-10 state finish. They will look to improve in the offseason and return to the State Meet next year.
