College Street store robbed, suspects sought

Sulphur Springs Police are seeking two men alleged to have robbed a College Street gas station at approximately 10:30 p.m. Monday. No injuries were reported.

What appared to be two black males wearing hoodies, masks and gloves entered the Super Handy on College Street.

'One of the suspects brandished a firearm and demanded money from the store clerk. The store clerk handed over the money and suspects fled the store through the adjoining neighborhood,' Sulphur Springs Police Lt. Rusty Stillwaggoner stated Tuesday morning.

A police canine unit responded. While the trained dogs tracked to Helm Lane, ultimately, it and searching by local law enforcement atutiorities, proved unsuccessful in locating the suspects.

The incident was captured on video,; Stillwagoner anticipates posting the video when police obtain it.

SSPD plans to step up patrols in that area as well as retail and nearby neighborhoods as a safety precaution, providing more police presence to act as a deterrant of criminal activity.
