AUSTIN — Sulphur Springs High School has once again finished in the top-25 in the 4A Lone Star Cup. They shared 14th place with Aubrey High School.

The Lone Star Cup is annually awarded to six high schools, one for each classification, based on team performance in district and state championships. The winning schools for each classification receive the UIL Lone Star Cup trophy and a $1,000 scholarship.

Teams earn points in each sport and extracurricular activity based on finish. Sulphur Springs and Aubrey tied for 14th place, scoring 61 points each. Canyon Randall High School won the Class 4A Lone Star Cup with 117 points.

Sulphur Springs earned the most points in girls soccer and softball, scoring 10 points in each activity: 10 points in both sports for advancing to the Regional Semifinals. The next highest point totals came from marching band, State UIL academics, and boys soccer, which each scored six points each.

Sulphur Springs High School also earned four points each in boys basketball, district UIL academics, and regional UIL academics, three points in team tennis, and two points each in volleyball, football, girls basketball, and baseball.

This marks the second consecutive year Sulphur Springs has been a top-25 4A school in the Lone Star Cup standings, and they will look to keep that streak going during the 2024-25 school year.
