The long wait is almost over for Ashley Ridge Church.

The congregation in Summerville has been meeting at the local high school for more than a decade as they wait to build a home of their own.

Now that dream is being realized. On April 21 leaders and representatives from the church even the children broke ground on their new building in the heart of the growing Summers Corner community.

The project is projected to cost $8 million.

Trident Construction , which is heading up the building development, signed on to the project four years ago, according to a news release.

“We picked Trident because they are deeply invested in the Summerville community,” Jenn Williams, pastor of Ashley Ridge Church , said in the release. “They have also been a great asset in offering creative construction ideas to help us save money and build the best possible tool for our ministry.”

Ashley Ridge is the only church in the Summers Corner community and they are anticipating rapid growth as thousands of new homes are being built there along with a new community center with several large pools along with recreational facilities.

The property is at 9815 Delmar Highway in Summerville.
